Anyway, I'm with you, whichever one wins, I'm pleased with all three. This is an entirely different boat than the heroine contest.
BTW, over at the Devroom they posted up introductions for the three main groups, the Caskett Family, the Bright Bats (Barret and Aero), and the Bonnes. Volnutt's final design is still pending, but again they have the B design as a place holder.
Interestingly enough, the Bonnes (Tiesel, Tron, and Bon) are blanked out with the same "final design pending" as Rock. It seems that they'll be getting new wardrobe as well. Makes sense, since Roll got a new look after all. I personally can't wait to see it.
The red stamp means the design has been approved. "Barrett is the impromptu leader and educator of Klickelan Island's weakest gang, the Bright Bats! But he's training them hard so that they can rise to the top. He likes the words duty and obligation. With a passion for adventure, he spends his days thrillseeking and getting into trouble. Strangely old-fashioned at times, he's also mysteriously well-versed in the art of digging--much about Barrett is an enigma. He also seems to have some connection to Roll and the Bonnes."
Here's Aero's bio: "The one female on the Bright Bats team. Happy-go-lucky to the core, she is the team’s mood-maker. For some reason she is particularly skilled at tapping police radio transmissions, which she uses to support her team’s havoc-wreaking. There’s no mistaking the flutter in her heart she feels upon meeting the assertive and strong-willed Barrett. She dies her hair pink as an act of defiance toward her parents." Ha, so basically, she has daddy issues and decides to be a rebel by changing her hair color and joining a biker gang. That's kind of funny. Also, it's nice to see that they're not gonna have Aero fawning over Volnutt...hopefully.
Roll, Data, Barrel, and Megaman. Again note that Megaman's final design still hasn't been revealed. B just seems to be the place holder they decided on. Not much new info from their bios avid fans don't already know. Except for maybe that during Barrel's digging days he was known as "Barrel the Invincible." A game focused around young Barrel going on digging adventures needs to go right up there with a Gundam 00 Solar Wars OVA focused around Sergei as things we'd all like to see but never will.
And finally the Bonnes. Again, no new info we didn't already know. So what do you guys think of the possibility of new Bonne designs? One of two things could happen: A) They'll just reveal them at a later date without any user input, like with Roll's new look. B) They might open it up for voting like with Mega Man. Honestly, I kind of hope they don't put it up to a vote. I like how they changed up Roll, so I'm eager to see Tron get some similar treatment.

Tron, and the Bonnes were pirates, and apparently diggers before that, and apparently wealthy heirs to a well-to-do estate before that. So maybe he's a rock throwing kid Tron shot in her game. Or a from one of the other hops along their destructive path of destitution.
Thing I'm scratching my head about here is that Roll, personally, has absolutely no life history we're aware of where she and none of the others would have met this island's upstart. She's always either in line of sight of Megaman, spotting for him, or tinkering with something. Unless she built Barret, Megaman should also have met him.

>>6408703 Just...ow.
But, there already is a screen shot of Roll (presumably) speaking with Barret asking for help with fixing or getting a new wrench, so it's likely that Barret and his gang are involved that way. As for his connection with the Bonnes, well, perhaps they show up on the Island and Barret will have none of that because his gang is supposed to be the number one in town.
By the way, no comments yet on Aero's summary? We honestly knew little to nothing about her before, so I find that a bit surprising.
>>6409714 That character model was used a couple of times, so it could have been a different girl. I know the one you're talking about though. Anyway, my line of thinking is that Tron and Roll are enough, we hardly need some plucky new girl with no hopes of ever hooking up with Megaman jumping into things. If her affections are toward Barret, things might actually go somewhere, and it's nice to see a character people voted on be involved in the story in a way that's not "just another girl with a crush on Volnutt."
Anonymous
>>6409741 We did already know she had father issues. And I'm not going to lie; an aptitude for scanning radio frequencies seems like a very narrow specialty. Comparable to the skills of Roll and Tron's slavebots; I don't imagine her easily contributing anything except possibly a radio that functions beyond the depths that we've seen Roll's.
What I'm interested in is the Bright Bats. I mean we're told they're the weakest gang on Klickelan. I'm sure this means they're all lovable rascals. But also that there's a tougher gang or gangs they're going to eventually contend with. That conflict interests me more than the one described by a girl on the back of a motorcycle who says her dad doesn't understand her.
Quoted By:
>>6409800 Fair enough. What I'm thinking is that since the Bonnes have rolled into town, they'll be the main source of opposition for the Bright Bats, since I highly doubt there's any gang on the island that really comes close to matching their fighting strength. (Yeah the Bonnes are constantly poor, but they still manage to keep on making giant robots.)
As for Aero, I guess I'm just liking that her character is a bit more than I thought it would be. The introduction of Barret and his gang helps a lot with that.

>>6410812 >>6410796 I'd like to know why C was trying to change his perceived species identity. Why is it that they really were trying to make a kid that trades his arms for vacumes seem more organic... while calling it the "armored" design?
Just seems like polar opposite design commentary.
Brave Exkaiser will Never Die
>>6410830 It was called "armored" because it looks like he's a person wearing armor.
Besides, despite being an android he's not recognizably different from Carbons, so he's organic in some respect. He does things like grow up and digest Picnic Lunches, it just seems like he puts most of his fleshy body away when he puts on his armor and then puts it back on when he has to make breakfast for Roll.
They're not trying to change his "perceived species" at all, just trying to reconcile his armored and unarmored bodies.
Anonymous
>>6410854 They're not trying to change his "perceived species" at allThey specifically point out where on design C they made as humanlike for the consideration of the voters. Not from the perspective of the game models, but the promotional art. Yet all this design seems to address is if his crotch is spacious enough for a hominid. It does little to address the physical impossibilities of the joints on his arms and legs.
What I'm probably failing to explain is that there's a total wash of details on the concept designs, and commentary on it. At least as far as I can see it intended to be read.
But this whole discussion topic became moot when Ishihara edited in to explain that -YES- Megaman does in fact physically remove and exchange almost all of his body with specifically designed mechanical parts to put on his digger suit, and by inference that's all his digger suit is. But he does not plan on having that shown in the game or discussed in detail until after they've formulated a winner.
Brave Exkaiser will Never Die
>>6410882 I suppose I read into the comment too much.
I was thinking from the perspective of someone who's played the games and seen the dude prance about in an apron, not someone just looking at his design.
Well, that sort of thing happens, I suppose. But to really answer what you were asking, perhaps they believed that the more human design would be more attractive to people who weren't familiar with the series than the more robotic design. Given the reaction to the design, though, I'm interested in seeing what they'll do to it for the second poll.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>6410812 >>6410887 This is going to be interesting to say the least. They'll need a breakaway winner to decide upon one of the designs no?
Anonymous
>>6410882 The thing is, if you actually take a second to look at design C, you'll notice that they still follow that original design philosophy, except now it's really only for his elbow and knee joints. It's the waist, shoulder, and hands that have been made more human like. If you also take a look at Barret, it looks like he's in the same situation. What Ishihara also pointed out is that the switching of body parts for mechanized stuff is pretty common among diggers, so it's not particularly exclusive too Megaman.
So taking everything together, the fact that yes Megaman does exchange body parts, and that yes, he's not always committed to that armor, then I think C makes a lot of sense.
I like the idea that Volnutt was a Megaman that was designed from the beginning to be more Human, the lack of a helmet revealing human hair as a default is an indicator. That's why I like that C makes him more human like while still holding onto the idea of cybernetic implants/prosthetic limbs.

The thing I find funniest about C isn't the lack of "crotch plate" but the fact that they made sure to cover Volnutt's rear. If design C was really the "fujoshi bait" some like to claim it is, you'd think they'd leave that uncovered since that's what you spend most of your time looking at when you are playing anyway. I'd go as far as to say that the rear of a playable character in a 3rd person game is just as, if not more, important than the front. Like, half the shit you'd find in ruins was just that, random shit with no value other than they were artifacts from a civilization long past. In Legends 2, pretty much every hole or chest contained either straight Zenny or parts used for weapon R&D.
I hope they do something similar to what was in 1 for 3.

>>6413430 Definitely. I liked how half of it just got put in the museum, and some of the coolest stuff in the game was just made out of random junk you traded beetles for.
In Legends 2, you find a lot of chests filled with single pieces of paper explaining how to make homing missiles.

At least the finalized Aero design is better than the original.

I'm just saying that I think her refined/finalized design is a lot better than what was presented in the contest. A 3D model and nice official art also helps too.

>>6413430 >>6413601 I got the indication that Kattelox was special as far as islands went as a place of historical interest. Art and Barrel went on like its histogram was unique. With civilizations in layers upon layers that the Master put there, reinitialized, and replaced while beta testing the social aspects of the carbons.
I got the impression the only reason there's artifacts from the various bygone generations because they put them there. Possibly left them when the big eye of death descended to kill the island and some of those carbons tried to take shelter in the ruins. Justifications as to why they're in holes could be that the reverbots or some other arm of Juno's system probably would have been tasked to remove any foreign elements not appearing on the blueprints.
Obviously archeology was a major endeavor of the Digger's guild, and several individuals. But it seemed oriented more towards uncovering the ruins' origins and ancients. Which Legends 2 did present itself to explore for basically the entire game. Even if we didn't get to truth until the last half hour.

>>6414609 >With civilizations in layers upon layers that the Master put there, reinitialized, and replaced while beta testing the social aspects of the carbons. I'd wager the master wasn't the one doing re-initialization. Recall that the system was set up to activate when ever the population on the island got to large. The master loved the Carbons, so the point where he decided to destroy the system for their sake. On top of that, the whole war between Trigger and Mother is likely to have happened several centuries before the story takes place, so it's possible the re-initialization process took place several times after the Master had already died.
Anyhow, I think that part of the reason why you find so many artifacts in the Kattleox ruins is that they are largely unexplored and sealed off until Volnutt arrives. The smaller ruins in the other islands in Legends 2 are mostly tapped out because they've been thoroughly explored already, while the ruins that hold the keys are barely explored at all.

>>6414763 Well even if the Master himself didn't order their termination he, as the creator of the carbons, also had to be the one to regulate the termination protocols governing them. Unless that was retconned or someone before the Master tried to repopulate the earth with some race. So that the Master had to work around the existing protocols (maybe for a race with a Mass Population Model of A?)
Though excusing or excluding the Master's involvement in the last part. There's no imaginable reason why, as reported by Kattelox officials, citizens, investigators, historians, and researches would it would happen like clockwork every 4 or 5 generations without his involvement. At least in the island's repopulation.
He had to have been replacing them. The only sense I make out of that is that Kattelox was, or was one of, the place the Master betatested the carbons. As allured to by the Master and Sera in Trigger's memories. I wouldn't think the Master started out with a godlike or wanton mentality where he could emotionlessly or happily order genocide. But rather in the small batches he was working through. He was fixing problems and mistakes still hoping to "eventually" make the Carbons into the human analogs he dreamed they would be. Those being the ones he died happily knowing they were.
I'm willing to entertain any other interpretation of the snipits we've been given on the matter. But I haven't heard or been able to form any other coherent story that would explain why periodic reinitialization was local to Kattelox. Muchless why its system of ruins would be identified as unique in several fashions.

>>6412488 Wasn't that the FIRST reverbot we saw? Like just after they animated the first servbot?
>>6415476 I seriously doubt the Master had little to do with the carbons other than observing them. From what we do know, and not based off speculation, the Mother units were the ones in charge of running stuff. The Master felt more like an observer, that kept Trigger around to keep himself from being lonely. Sera was in charge of everything up on Elysium, while Yuna directly governed Terra. We know that Juno was in place on Kattleox island to oversee the purge, so I honestly see very little of it having to do with the Master directly. I also don't think the artifacts found in the ruins are from past carbons but from the system prior to the Master system. We're talking thousands of years here.
