So how is Godannar? I plan on checking it out being a fan of GaoGaiGar and it reminds me of it in every way.

Is it a good series and does it have good fights?

The action is good, that "stock footage" kind of way. So, like Gaogaigar.
The character design and interaction more then make up for it, though.
I really enjoyed the show.

And no, it wasn't because of the fan service.
It just seemed like a straight soap opera with mechs, in raw form.
I also hated how generic and uninteresting the enemies were.

The creators of the show made an official H comic to fund the 2nd season. That's pretty badass.

The character designs are also delicious and the action's pretty good, too.

Action is great, and I'd say it's worth watching for the characters alone. I wide and diverse cast, you'll probably end up liking someone. People latch on to Shizuru and Kouji, but the cast is packed full with endearing characters, (and a surprising amount of strong female characters, even Anna who comes across as extremely whiny at times feels kickass when you compare her to most anime females.)

Hell that Doujin used to be the only doujin for godannar floating around for a while. Others eventually hit the net though.

GxS has been in all of once, and it's not unrealistic to want to see it in again. If Getter Robo, CCA, and Mazinger Z can be in almost every game in some form, why is it bad to want to see a title that hasn't appeared much?

I felt like Anna took a lot of shit for no reason. Sure there was learning the hard lessons of being a Super Robot Pilot and the Harsh Realities of War and then there is just slapping the poor girl to the ground and walking away (emotionally speaking).
The slapping part seemed to happen pretty often.

Plus she had no body to rely on, which in a show about partnership just seemed depressing. Was it supposed to be a role reversal kind of thing or what? Its an awesome show but you don't have to kick a girl when she's down in between fights.
