TechTV aired this show for a little while back in the day. For one reason or another, I didn't like it. Maybe it was the character designs, or I thought it was slow, or maybe I was just a lot younger then and didn't really 'get' it.

Should I go back and watch it now? Or is it actually shitty?

I hated it at first too, but when it started explaining things (around half way through), then it really clicked with me. It's a pretty good show in my opinion, but quite heavy on bio/techno babble.

Rewatch it. I felt the same way about the second Patlabor movie the first time around. Back then I didn't have an appreciation for intellectually stimulating anime. All I cared about was action, action, action. Now after watching it again years later, I can see why many regard it as a masterpiece.

This was part of what made it fun. Not science, but SCIENCE. Another part was the overall atmosphere. And then there's DOSE CHARACTER DESIGNS.
