I have just watchet the first 5 ep, and all i have to say is... THIS SHIT WAS AMAZING. This piece of art have completly changed my point of view on anime. It was original, inspiring and refreshing to my mind. Visuals, only genius could create something like that.

I hope thanks to Madoka Magica, the japanese would be convinced to create more original works.

It was the other way around for me. His total inhumanity was fantastic when contrasted with his exterior cuteness.
It seems that you wanted him to be somewhat more evil, when in reality a portrayal of total neutrality and objectivism (and his ability to hide information) is far better (for me at least) than what you seem to want.

And more SCIENCE! would have broken the mysticism. It almost broke it for me with just him being an alien.

Though Madoka is still not /m/.

Except it was trying to explain the entire setting using SCIENCE.

It was never supposed to rely on mysticism, it needed SCIENCE.

No, he is responsible for the process that creates them. It's his active doing.
He does enable them as well though, in a way, it's pretty similar to what I wrote.

In that case: Why would he enable her.

He didn't foresee the consequences of the wish he gave. It's good practice in this kind of faustian jig, he got outsmarted.
