Also, on a slightly related note: Madoka will probably catch up to IS in sales. Truly a lucky season when we get two anime that are such undisputed standards of quality for the future, like LoGH and Eva before them.

I know it's just post made to incite butthurt and rage, but did LoGH really set those "standards of quality" for the future? I'm not disputing LoGH's quality here, I'm just questioning if it did have an impact on other anime.

It didn't really have anything to keep the staff from slow-rolling through the entire series, did it?

If it's really as accurate to the source novels as implied, I guess it set a standard for adaptations, but not being Japanese and not being fully aware of popular culture for them means I can't make much of a judgment. Could be niche stuff there for all I know...

Meanwhile, planefag OVAs always manage to muck up on the adaptation process. The Yukikaze OVA screws around with event order and is pretty fucking confusing (things happen, no real explanation given), and Area 88 is a pretty compressed adaptation of the first few volumes of the manga, plus an ending that deviates from the manga.

I'll lump in the Sky Crawlers movie too, because of lolOshii.

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder how LoGH did it. Maybe it translated well to an animated form with little compromise required?

All this does is remind me how I should really try to get back into LoGH, though.

While I detest this show, and would love to see the character designer and the author executed Japanese style, I believe that this OP (the same idiot who's been making them for over a month) liked this shit a bit and makes these threads in order to troll both the people who would like to discuss the show seriouslyif that's even possible, and the people who don't like it.

Inferior isn't the word I'd use. Like how LoGH isn't inferior to "UC master race" either, in my opinion. It just targets a vastly different audience. IS and LoGH fans like good writing, UC fans settle for a show where the plot involves the resurrection of an empire that has failed three times in a row, the leader of these huge idiots is a clone of the previous leader, the protagonist is an annoying kid who got the most advanced weapon ever through some extremely convenient twists of fate, and all the state of the art future weapons' main means of combat somehow always comes down to being extremely close range, to the point of beating each other up.

That shit just doesn't fly with the high-brow audience of IS or LoGH.

It won't influence normal mecha but it does uphold certain trends, it is not to say you can't make giant robot anime with female leads but if you want to make your anime/manga sell. Powered Armored Girls seem to sell the most.

I saw Madoka, the 1st epanyway and liked the art and how similar it is was Nanoha I'll eventually watch more
I have yet to watch IS, but I don't like the art style or how generic everything is, still I do like mecha musume. Is this show anything like Nanoha?

Not sure, not having seen Nanoha. But it's character intro stuff with lots of training and fight scenes throughout the series (aside from the beach episode, where we did get a look at Akatsubaki).
