So I was watching Moon starring Sam Rockwell, and also researching a paper on alternative energies. And there's lots of enthusiasm about Helium-3 as an energy source for the future.

And what do UC mobile suits' Minovsky Drives run on?
Yes, Helium-3. (Although in UC, it's mostly taken from Jupiter)

I actually am not surprised that alot of /m/en haven't watched 2001. It takes a long attention span to watch a movie like 2001. It's not full of "pew pew" lasers and hot blood action, it's a thinking persons movie. I watched it, the first time, in 1973, when I was 7 years old and loved it, my friends that watched it didn't like it so much; no Star Trek action in it was their chief complaint. You really have to enjoy the style of sci-fi that 2001 is to sit down and watch it.

I do not enjoy 2001 much.

I find it to be a pretentious and ultimately boring film.

2001 is probably a hell of a lot better in a movie theater.

I (un?)fortunately first saw Clockwork Orange in a theater and now watching Kubrick on tv is like total crap. Putting the laptop screen close to my face sorta works but he was clearly working with the idea of a HUGE FUCKING SCREEN for his stuff.

Maybe this is the reason I didn't enjoy Kubrick films that much (I've seen them with a small monitor)

You mean in general? Or just in sci-fi?

Cause if in general. Trust me, there's a LOT of films that are deemed more quotable than Aliens. Aliens has some choice one-liners, but its not exactly cornering the market on dialogue any more or less.

and on the topic of sci-fi films that look better on the big screen - Metropolis. Went when the restored version was running, and now I'm not sure I'll be able to go back to small screening it.
