>>4098732>>4098542The vast majority of traits in the human mind are established by repetition. A man becomes intelligent through study, brave through constant efforts at bravery, kind, courteous, moral, just, etc, by constantly doing brave, kind, courteous, moral, just, etc, actions. So one does not know oneself by meditation and mysticism. One knows oneself by first examining one what IS by reason, then choosing what one will be, again by reason, and by will.
And there is no subconscious or unconscious mind. The mind is, by definition, the sole totality of ones thoughts, emotions, etc. So even IF unconscious thoughts/etc existed, they couldn't properly be called part of the mind. In any case there is no such thoughts or desires. The freudian concept of a sub/un consicious has been discredited. There are mental processes that go on in the brain, but they are not the vast pit of repressed emotions or hidden desires that Freud imagined.
At the end of the day, Aristotle and Socrates were right, and Buddha and the psychologists were wrong. The mind is fundamentally rational, not irrational, and a man is primarily what he chooses to be.
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
