Let's stop the soundcloud circlejerking for a minute and make a track. I've posted a track for orientation.
http://soundcloud.com/plebsjustwannahavefun/basic-song-structure +++ FAQ +++
>What do I need to contribute? Any setup that allows you to record/create a piece of music with decent sound quality (no vocaroo please)
>What kind of file do I have to upload and where should I upload it? It doesn't matter (mp3, wav,... whatever), just make sure it has somewhat decent quality and it's downloadable (e.g. if you're using soundcloud to upload)
>How long should my track be? It has to be the exact length of the sample-track (16 bars @ 142bpm = 0:27 min)
>What will happen once everyone has uploaded something? I will blend together your contributions to some kind of song, I don't really know how it will turn out. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO UPLOAD ONLY YOUR CONTRIBUTION, DON'T BLEND IT WITH THE SAMPLE FILE!
let's see where this is heading... have fun jammin' /mu/!

Really, it's never been done before.

http://soundcloud.com/mysterious-lights/blah That was fun. Never sort of remixed before so yeah kind of crappy. Wish I got here earlier. I would have added more.

OP !03rC9LJsJM
I think the best way to manage a more ambitious/serious (it can still be funny with stupid /mu/ related lyrics, of course) project would be an IRC-channel or some sort of chatroom where people are directed. Also a dropbox would really help to improve efficiency = more time for fun that way, we could really talk about concepts and lyrics and assign tasks etc...

OP, I hope you're saving this in some lossless way. And make more threads, let's make an album, fuck yes>nah, not gonna happen
MalcolmMooney !PU7RvqMA5.
Quoted By:
>>25119169 Not really.
The Dicklick Brigade is everyone making their own song, which is then sequenced and compiled into an album.
This is a song which people build upon and is then mixed into a completed track.
The difference being that the DLB isn't particularly collaborative (it's more like a mixtape).
>>25119192 Depends. This is better than many Dicklick songs for sure, but you can only do so much like this (plus, we've had some awesome fucking tracks). Also, you can't make a whole album in 2 hours with this method.
>>25119200 You can use the Dicklick IRC if you'd like.

irc.rizon.net now and set a tempo and bar length so we can contribute to the dropbox
MalcolmMooney !PU7RvqMA5.
>>25119249 I think there's a lot of genuinely great stuff that gets put on Dicklick albums (check either of the best-ofs). The humorous/troll songs are hit or miss.
It's still a fun way to spend Saturday.

>>25119245 unfortunately i gotta get going ...
But I'll figure something out and come back some other day. How can you set up a channel on rizon? can you do that without admins? (sry i dont know shit about IRC)

Those Plebeians
MalcolmMooney !PU7RvqMA5.
I'd gladly let you guys use the DLB wiki as well, if you need it to organize shit. (In fact, we've been considering adding other /mu/ projects for a while). It'll take a bit of configuring before it's ready for other projects to be added, but once you guys have material, a name, and a sizable contributor base I'll make accommodations.

>>25119621 Right you are, sir. I love these /mu/ projects, of all sizes and types.
I started regularly compiling DLB on accident, and eventually I kind of got pegged in as some kind of leader. I actually kind of feel bad about resurrecting it, really, and honestly looking back I should have created my own project that didn't have this whole "legacy" behind it. It was never my intention to carry on the original DLB, and honestly you can look at the two things as completely different but with the same name.
However, since I'm currently the "leader" of the DLB, making a new project is entirely unfeasible. But I love to help with and contribute to new ones.
