Ashok Pathak - The Colorful World
>Indian classical, sitar & surbahar. Stunning album from Balaram Pathak's son. He uses harmonics and vibrato like no other player, with the exception perhaps of his father. Gayan Kali on this is one of the most emotive and beautiful recordings I've ever heard. Very well recorded, clean and full sounding production. This isn't on this album but what a performance. It's a shame one of his strings is unseated for the first 6mins or so but he corrects it eventually.

Ravi Shankar - Towards The Rising Sun
>Indian and Japanese classical, sitar, koto, tabla. This is a wonderful album, and quite an unsual one. Ravi teams up with some Japanese musicians to mix sitar, koto, flute and tabla. It all works perfectly together to create one of Ravi's best albums (although it is majorly overshadowed by some of his less experimental albums). The two raga works at the end of the album are some of the best that I've heard Ravi do, one of them dedicated to his guru, Allauddin Khan, which just radiates the emotion he feels for him. http://www.mediafire.com/?jmn9q3sc3a37is3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKceywea5T8 Anonymous

Ghazal - The Rain
>Indian/Iranian classical and folk fusion, sitar and kamencheh. This is a real gem of an album. It is a fusion of Persian/silk road/Indian folk and light classical music. Shujaat Hussain Khan provides spellbinding sitar and vocals, and Iranian Kayhan Kalhor provides kamencheh, a kind of Persian violin. Their solos intertwine in to beautiful melodies which transport you somewhere else. This one is a live album and the atmosphere is electric, something missing on their studio albums. he combiantion of Japanese Folk and American Surf is not only totally mind boggling but completely plausible:
Surf - the most formulaic genre in pop music - is spiced up here with exotic and foreign instruments and melodies.
The devotion that Takeshi and his Bunnys put into every note has an almost religious earnestness to it, at the same time
there is this typical Japanese copycat-eagerness which tries to surpass the original and thus gives the music
a hilariously comic quality. Funny and substantial at the same time.
"Eleki buumu is subgenre of Surf Rock inspired by The Ventures, the electric boom developed in early 1960s Japan
with an often instrumental, electric sound similar to its Western influences."

Cosmic Jokers sessions, Walter Wegmüller's Tarot, a bunch of Klaus Schulze LPs, Ashra and Wallenstein, Harald Grosskopf
finally dropped this baby on Sky records in 1980. Somewhat similar in spirit to parts of Göttsching's gorgeous New Age of
Earth record from 1976, but definitely more upbeat and rhythm based, and on a planet of it's own, Grosskopf here plays live
drums, wanky double-synth solos and arpeggiated synth sequences, so you get this odd motorik/New Age juxtaposition.
Some songs, like "1847 Earth", almost predate techno. You can basically hear the tail end of the 70's morphing into the 80's."

That Handsome Devil - S/T ep
>Surfy, rockabilly, beboppy, crazy music, with hip-hop vocals, uses samples from old videos from the 50's and 60's http://www.mediafire.com/?zusi779b887o24c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KsYUYEkKlw&hd=1 That Handsome Devil - A City Dressed in Dynamite
>More of a concept album this time, samples an old 60's anti-drug video throughout the album http://www.mediafire.com/?zhmlozncbmf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfrThZcz7G0&hd=1 That Handsome Devil - The Heart Goes To Heaven, The Head Goes To Hell
>A bit more serious this time around, the band has matured since their last album, shown by the lyrics, but still retains their smiling with a gun in your mouth type attitude http://www.mediafire.com/?tkbr6ii835crb56 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6YqhmRJfQc That Handsome Devil - The Jungle Book
>An EP using only cover songs from the Jungle Book Soundtrack in That Handsome Devil style, with a story of a modern-day man down on his luck being played throughout, god-tier last track sung by the backup vocalist Released for free on their website

>>28625694 Swapan Chaudhuri - Live from Darbar Festival 2006
http://www.mediafire.com/?i44hxh46c742848 >God tier solo in 16 beats. There might not be a better recording. Swapan Chaudhuri is my favorite soloist. I place this above the Yogesh solos even though the case can be made that Yogesh himself is more technical. The "circles" are more patient and dynamic(likely because it is one solo), and Swapan's resolutions are far more engaging and satisfying. On top of that, it has superior accompaniment, and is live(studio solos are sterile to me). If there is a better recording of a better solo, I have not heard it. I would only complain that they fade out part of the middle because of the time restrictions of CDs.

Delaney - S/T
> French acoustic pop with Nico-esque vocals http://www.mediafire.com/?0c2m4glq6eu9eui http://www.pehrlabel.com/mp3s/delaney-la_nuit_on_a_toujours_tout.mp3 On a personal note, this is one of my favorite albums, and it seriously needs more love. Delaney's voice is smokey and laced with melancholy, and while the the instrumentation sets the tone, it never threatens to overwhelm her. I encourage you to give this a listen. If you like it, play it for your friends. She deserves to be heard.
