Americans aren't seeing the big picture here. The Chinese are causing a giant trade deficit because they can run factories with super cheap labor. America is dealing with a large group of illegal immigrants who are suppressing wages and ready to work for nothing.
Solution? Kill two bird with one stone and set up Mexican labor shanty towns. Build them along the border, make them accessible, and then get corporate backing. The government could auction off contracts for banks to handle the transactions the Mexicans make to send money back home, the telephone companies could bid for exclusive contracts for the immigrant town phone lines, and Wal-Mart, Nike, and other big companies could be given concessions to shift their sweatshops from Asia to the labor camps in America. They would save a ton of money, since shipping costs have gone up with the price of oil.
Finally, all these immigrant workers would be taxed because they are no longer being paid under the table by employers. Fenced labor camps like these would solve many of America's problems. Just increase the severity of punishment for hiring illegals, and suddenly you have a ton of Mexicans running to the labor camps, while preserving American businesses and jobs. The trade deficit with China is already immense, and building a wall near Mexico is in the planning phase. Add in a few labor camps and factories where Mexicans are paid almost nothing, and in time America could produce goods that are cheaper, safer, and better than China.
