I mean, from a psychological perspective, religion and occult beliefs (ghosts, people returning from the dead, etc) represent something seriously wrong with an individual.
I'm sure jesus christ was a real person, but he was such A PROFOUND person, that people didn't understand what it meant when he died. He knew death was certain, because that is how the authority behaved at that time : they killed critics on a crucifix. Not just jesus, but EVERYBODY, in the thousands.
It's probably a real story, like Moses, but the people who he surrounded himself with didn't know what to understand of it. Death is absurd to the savage.
