A 34-year-old Italian man who had sex with a 13-year-old girl has had his sentence cut by a two-thirds because a court decided there was "real love" between the pair.

Just curious: Do you consider every girl as mentally traumatized for life in those countries which have an age of consent around 14 or so? I mean, if a 13 year CAN'T consent, a 14 year old isn't much different, so they're essentially all raped, legally though. How about work for a living in a potentially dangerous occupation, like being a miner?

The bottom line is that in order to be able to make such decisions like a rational human being, you need to be given a chance to develop your knowledge and understanding of the world. Yeah there are exceptional people out there and the law doesn't account for that in any way shape or form. But reguardless, what is worse, removing those protections or having them in place?
