US Staff Sergent Tyrone Hadnott raped a 14 year old girl in Okinawa. Hadnott offered the girl a ride on his motorbike, but took her to his house where he tried to seduce her. She cried and he said he'd drive her home in his car, where the 38 year old then raped her.

US Authorities typically do their best to stonewall prosecution of US Servicemen. This may have backfired, with rapes by US Servicemen skyrocketing. Last year, 46 U.S. military personnel were arrested in the tiny prefecture in connection with criminal cases That could be about to change: US Embassy Spokesman Joseph Donovan said the US would cooperate fully. Unusually, US Authorities permitted Japanese police to arrest Hadnott.

The Japanese Foreign Service has formally asked the US educate its servicemen on not raping the locals. "I feel strong indignation over the crime and could never forgive it, considering the fact that the victim is a junior high school student" said Okinawa Gov Hirokazu Nakaima told reporters after the arrest.
