>>681624Which is exactly what it claims to be. Islam believes that God has given 3 revelations to mankind, the first is the Bible (with modified Torah in the form of the old Testement plus aditional material), the second was the New Testament, and the third was the Quran. The reason for the second and third revelations were due to the first and second, respectively, being corrupted and their original meaning being lost. Muslims are instructed to respect the Bible and Torah for what they are but not to respect them in the same amount as the Quran being the newest and least corrupted message from God. Muslims should "respect all truths" no matter their source.
Now, Islam makes itself the most important (having the latest and greatest edition of the God Code), but so did Christianity before it. It incorporates some local superstitions and culture but so did Christianity (a lot of the Saints look a lot like local deities).
Now, I don't believe any of it, but Islam is only questioned in this way because its roots are close enough that there is a good deal of information available about them. Unlike Judaism and somewhat unlike Christianity.
If you are going to question the roots of one religion, you should question the roots of all of them. Condemn the men who do violence and spread hate, and recognize the book they hide behind as just that, a book. Nothing more.
