>>685167I used to do construction with a bunch of guys, on lunch breaks we would listen to the radio, and when they announced an officer's death there would be loud applause and joy, often following with comments that they should all die.
Most of these guys were 45-50, it wasn't a bunch of teenagers mouthing off and acting rebellious. One of them had to spend his weekends in jail for half a year for screaming at his wife(and having a bit of alcohol in his system). If there ever was a riot these people would have no problems bashing their brains out.
Personally I'm pretty neutral on the subject, they haven't bothered me or anybody I hold dear too badly yet.
>>685228These kids have no fucking respect.Respect is earned; just because you have a gun and a uniform doesn't mean you're not corrupt or competent. Nobody assumes a cop is looking out for their best interest when they're busting down their door or questioning them, their job is to arrest and help prosecute you. Nothing more.
What do you think respect is? Groveling at their feet saluting and saying "Sir"? Respect means you have deeply rooted trust, you know that the person you have respect for has integrity and good moral values. I don't think police will ever be treated with respect as long as they continue acting the way they do.
