Police are questioning a 43-year-old suspect in the Upper East Side doc chop murder case.
The man was behing held at a Pennsylvania State Police barracks.
The incident occurred Tuesday night. Kathryn Faughey, 56, died in the attack, and Dr. Kent Shinbach, 70, who tried to help, is recuperating from knife wounds he suffered in the attack, sources said.
After slashing Shinbach in the face, hand and head, the killer pinned him against the wall with a chair, ripped his wallet containing his driver's license from his pants, took $90, and made a dark threat --"I know where you live."
He used a meat cleaver - leaving it by Faughey's slashed corpse - and two knives during the rampage
