Hey there /n/, I'm looking at buying a Raleigh SP2000 Road Bike off of CL for about $600. It's my first serious road bike, and I plan on riding it on a century this October. I've been looking for a good steel framed bike, and also one for commuting/touring.
I have heard that there's a weakness on this bike where the seat stay and the seat tube meet, and I was wondering if anyone could confirm that for me. I also wanted to get /n/'s opinion. Below is the CL description:
For sale is a Raleigh SP2000 58cm road bike. Measured from center to center.
Full Shimano Dura Ace 7400 group , 8 speed.
This is a very rare and collectible bicycle.
In '93 this bike new was $ 3450.00.
Main triangle is a metal matrix, aluminum , stays and fork is made out of Reynolds 753 steel.
Bike has been very well kept. All components work flawless.
Beside couple of scratches on fork and a bit of cable rub, the frame and components are in very good shape and it's a pleasure to ride .
Reason to sell it at this price is that i try to finish another project before summer is over.
