I'm shopping for a new bike to replace two stolen commuter bikes, previously I've had no suspension, alloy framed 700x23 flat bar hybrid road bikes with a compact double, 36 - 50, that I've used to blast a 5 mile each way commute, fitting a rack for occasional use, fitting guards for wet weather etc.

Anyway, I'm narrowing it down to

Can you please advise? I'm leaning towards the kona due to the rest not really seeming worth the extra money for the spec.. Any suggestions?

The only thing I really dislike on that Kona is that the shifters and brake levers come as a single piece, so check and see if that shift/brake arrangement is comfortable for your hands before deciding. Otherwise I don't see any real reason to spend more money on any of the other models you linked to.

Of course, I'd be more inclined to buy a used bike than any of those, and put any money you save that way towards a HUGE chain and a nice U-lock.

Hey I had them stolen from my house, moved since though!

The Kona seems cheap enough and the newer shimano trigger shifters are nice, I've tried them.

I ordered the kona yesterday and got them to knock it down to £259. I don't think I could have got better value elsewhere.
