as far as the quality is concerned, its typically heavy and weak frames with poor quality welds and braze-ons that don't hold up after years (or less) of use, coupled with bottom of the line components especially in parts that you wouldn't normally consider, but which are nevertheless crucial, such as flimsy rims, cheap brittle spokes, cheap non-sealed bottom bracket, cheap headset, even down to the clamp for the seatpost and seatpost itself

cheap quality bikes like these might be ok when you get them working and ride them, but you have to consider how long you want to own them and how much use you're going to put in them. If you plan on actually using it for years, its definitely worth it to put more money into it at the beginning, as opposed to getting stuck with something you have to sink repair funds into.
