legislation will be introduced in the next session of Parliament to remove the commercial board of RailCorp and return the organisation to a statutory authority under the direct control of the Transport Minister.

Interesting... Govt Rail isn't always a good thing... but neither is having your system run by a company who doesn't want to inject funds into the network until they're at risk of losing the contract again.

Privitisation isn't all that bad -- When Kennet first did the contract for privitisation, Everything worked but when Brumby re-did the contract, which specified they wouldn't get fined as much money for poor running, The performance lapsed terribly.
When it was government run in the 90s, It ran shit, probably as poorly as it does now, Graffiti was worse and presentation was near to non-existant.
The best days of the railways in Victoria were when there was a comissioner and they had to try turning a profit (though it rarely ever happened)
All this is the past though, We can only hope for a better future. (Gay Promo sounding, I know...)
