The pilot kept the nose gear up for a long time, and it's claimed that he used neither spoilers nor reverse thrust to reduce the load on the nose gear.

What I don't understand is, why would he use the brakes, but not the reverse thrust? The wheel brakes will produce a larger moment compressing the front gear than the reverse thrust, because they are further from the c.g.. Where they worried more about the engine turning since the front wheel had no traction?
