I forget the name exactly, but it runs next to the tohoku shinkansen line near Omiya. It's essentially a guided bus system like the Yurikamome line in downtown Tokyo. It runs on tires, and uses the side walls for guidance, plus some computer inputs to steering gear at switches. Power comes from the (?third, fourth, fifth rail?) on the guide wall sides. Track maintenance consists of checking the side rails, and maybe laying down a thin sheet of concrete in areas that have gotten either too rough or too smooth. Yurikamome is driverless, but this one seems manned.
