Guess what? Weird question time.
On an old sailing voyage, there would be a store-room that people could buy from, containing things like waterproof jackets, alchohol, and playing cards. You would essentially buy from the ship.

Does anyone know what this was called? I first read the word in The Sea-Wolf, and I can't for the life of me find it or remember it.
