Ok /n/ or at least the bikers here....

What is the strangest thing that you have been called/yelled at while on a bike?

Mine just threw my mental track off for about 30 minutes pondering how they came around with the association. I was called a "hooker".
Yeah as someone you pay for sex. I don't know how the comparison was made, in fact I don't even think the people in the car who yelled it knew I was a guy because I was clothed for cold weather biking.

I rode by a group of kids once, and this little thirteen year old shouts "faggot" at me trying to look badass in front of his friends. I could have stopped and taught him a lesson, but I'm a mature guy who doesn't need to express feelings through violence (okay, I was running late for work too).

Can't think of anything else odd, but the most awesome thing I've heard while on my bike was from a guy who passes me in his car (while I'm hauling ass down a small hill on a paved road), rolls down his window and screams "DUUUUUDE! YOU'RE GOIN' 48 MPH!' The speed limit there is 35.

I did think it was funny when someone yelled out "GO LANCE" ... I guess everyone who rides a roadbike is Lance to some people.

Otherwise all that happens is a good argument. One old lady drove up behind me, nearly rear ending me, while I was riding to work, honked her horn, then proceeded to pass me on the left (it was wide road w/ 2 lanes each way); but when she did she felt the need to rolll down her window and hollar "get out of the road, your going to get hit by a car!"

I remember a black guy on a bike (in before...) riding hard and fast to catch a bus (yeah, I know). When he got on the bus, he was saying that he was "like Lance Armstrong" trying to catch it. Lance is pretty well associated with bike-riding.

So I don't know, I just always somehow ASSUMED that construction workers were well versed in the laws of the road. Particularly because they are required by their job to spend some time IN the road. So really the law is there to protect them as much as anyone. So I was totally weirded out by this shit.

FYI, I live in washington state and here it is actually ILLEGAL to ride on the sidewalk. Nobody knows of course, because no police bother to enforce it.

But in any case this dude yelled at me to get on the sidewalk even though:
1. He was on the OTHER side of the road from me
2. If I had been on the sidewalk HE was standing on I'd have hit him at 20 mph
3. There was NO FUCKING SIDEWALK on my side of the road
4. There were no cars behind me I was impeding and it was a low-traffic (one lane each way) road
5. I was over to the right as far as the potholes would allow me

That pissed me off for the rest of the day. I really want to get business cards printed up that cite the traffic code that allows me to ride on the road. That way when i get yelled at or honked at I can ride up and without saying a word just hand them a card pointing out that they're wrong.

I've also had people call me an idiot and comment that I was gonna get hit by a car, but I was also blowing a red light with cross traffic, so I guess I deserved those.

My biggest complaint with people yelling shit at me isn't what they say, it's that I can never understand what the fuck they're saying. They blow by me too fast and they don't yell loud enough. I really like to hear what kind of dumb shit they have to say =D

One that made me laugh was my boss ( I work in a bike shop) was cruising along, and some guy driving a piece of shit car yelled at him "Get a Job!" Uhhh....Yeah, the boss was riding his Ridley Noah, Full Dura Ace, Zipp 404's. Around a 7k$ bike MSRP. He got a good laugh out of that one.

Im a bikefag myself but DAMN fellas stop pretending you are a car! If vehicles are on the road and there is a sidewalk/bikepath available, just use it!! "Safety First" is a simple rule that supersedes all others, including outdated traffic laws and percieved "rights". I know the law lets me ride in rush-hour traffic, pretending to be a 2-ton vehicle. Problem is, I stop acting like a car when I get hit by one. If theres car traffic, I ride sidewalks FACING oncoming traffic, so I can see those cellphone-idiots coming. Bitch & moan all you want, the laws of physic dont care.

This is basically how I feel about bikefags. Bikefags are always blaming drivers but you make us so damn nervous on those things.

I would only sue if someone was clearly in the wrong, like swerving into me or throwing something like a rock that would endanger me. But I digress...I always give motorists the right of way because they can't weave through alleys/parking lots like I can. It's strange how nice people can be if you show some courtesy. But so help me if a driver fucks with me or rides my ass just to intimidate me, they're getting a few dents and cleat holes in their doors.

That's why we ride a little bit into the road. Sucks to have to slow down a bit, but it keeps us out of the shit in the gutter. Asside from the occassional stupid thing I do in traffic, I will ride close to the side to let cars around me. Most of us cyclists aren't that bad, just gotta give us a few feet of room when you pass.

I was WALKING my bike TO THE FUCKING BIKE RACKS. When I politely pointed this out to him he just went "Yeah, well you're still supposed to be on the road"
