but there's no point in having a V8. The roads are mostly too crowded, most of the country is urbanised and if you want a motorway mile eater there's plenty of decent cars with plenty of performance and great fuel efficiency.
People do have v8s, but they're mostly for track cars or land rovers

I am 20 in Aus with an I6T in a 4 year old car, insurance costs 2k a year.

A good mate who is 19 has his VZ clubby insured costs 2.2k.

Depends on whether or not you think it's worth it, realistically it never is, but being young and having way too much disposable income, it's hard not to blow it on stupid shit like this.

Plenty have driven one - I've driven a couple and I'm only 20. Thing is, insurance on anything with a V8 is stupid money - and usually noone will insure you at all unless you're over 25 - then you've got the £500/yr road tax because of the CO2 emissions - so it's not worth it to own one yourself.

Buick/Rover V8 powerplants were used in a pretty huge range of cars from the lumbering hulk of British Leyland (at least when they weren't on strike); and onwards from that by Land Rover and MG Rover. Since BL died, however, the British car industry was pretty insignificant, so most of the cars on the road are now French/Japanese econoboxes or stuff from GM and Ford's european divisions.

There's a few V8-powered German cars around, but virtually nil American/Australian-style land yachts; they're just not suited to the roads here.
