What's the point of a Prius? It costs $28k so any savings on fuel is gone.

If you want to save money why are you buying a $28k car? Just buy a $5000 car and now you have $23k to spend on fuel that will last you for 30 years.

Much less. Less electronanomicrotechie gizmos to go wrong for a start. And it doesn't really matter since you'd have 20k+ left over so you'd never notice.

I'm not saying the Prius is the best option. I'm saying new small efficient cars as a whole like an Elantra, Focus, Fit, Fiesta etc.

Damn /o/ is really slow, other post failed.. But what I was trying to say is that I didn't mean the Prius as the best option. I meant newer efficient cars as a whole, so like a Focus, Fit, Fiesta, Elantra.
