so, I bought a new stereo for my car a few days ago tried to install it today. wired it up, turns on, everything works, even the power antenna, cept 1 thing... no sound. what the fuck? I re-wired the speakers 3 times, and I am 110% sure its all wired properly, so what could be the issue? stereo is a Panasonic CQ-C5305U pic related, the car

did you have a head unit in there previously? dumb point to make, but perhaps the speakers themselves are fucked/no longer connected to their wiring/non existent
OP IS A !FAG..jIhak
Huh, I didn't know you got your new car yet. And maybe the wiring is broken elsewhere - did the old stereo work?

congrats on the car, unfortunately i have no advice to offer for the stereo though. Did you get it insured at como lake village? our license plates are only a couple numbers apart

Are you trying to integrate it into the factory wiring harness? I don't know about that car, but every BMW from the 80s that I've worked on has been a bitch due to negative ground wiring or some odd shit with the speaker connections.

no, I got my plates at Johnson Meier in Lougheed mall

I know some Mercedes around that year are weird about speaker wiring, specifically routing it through the factory fader. Check
benzworld.org for threads on speaker wiring to make sure the right wires are hooked up

>>4617215 I read that
mine turns on and everything, only no sound
also, there are only 4 speaker wires I've been able to find, not 8.
as well, I tried the stereo again, and this time with the volume maxed... it played music softly for about half a second, then stopped... it does this consistently every time I turn it off, and back on

>>4617109 Issue #1 - You are not a trained car stereo technician.
Issue #2 - You tried installing it yourself
Issue #3 - You're a fucking retard for trying to do it yourself
Go fuck a cactus you faggot

also, 4 wires wut.
what did you do with the remaining speaker wires from the head unit?

and sorry i can't offer any help, no idea about your head unit or about mercs.
Ishii !Fords5GmUY!!w0DCra4wfqM
>>4617242 its a second hand one, I got it from a friend of mine who had it in their car (in which, it worked)
and with the extra wires? I capped them off and insulated them from each other, then zap strapped them together.

>>4617250 the speaker wires, purple, green, grey, and white iirc.
you only connected half of them to the wires you found...?
if so that is your problem...

>>4617250 bro those second wires are the earths for the speakers. you *can* get speakers to work by earthing them to the chassis, but they will a)cut out, and b)carry a lot of noise interference.
what i would suggest is to run new wiring to and from your speakers. a "feed" and a "return" for each speaker, using the colour coding. i guarantee you that this will work
Ishii !Fords5GmUY!!w0DCra4wfqM
>>4617257 I've connected grey and white.
the aftermarket stereo I removed had the exact same thing, but rather left green and purple exposed and laying around.

>>4617228 Benzes are 2 channel. There is one set of wires for the right side, and one for the left. The front/rear split comes from the fader in the center console. So yeah, you're only gonna find four wires in the dash. Black/green is right positive, black/red is left positive, blacks are negative

>>4617267 dont go by what it had before...
rip everything out
run speaker wire to each speaker
connect it to the deck
done

>>4617280 it doesnt have door speakers, I have to rip apart the dash to get at the front speakers
and not having a dash, instrument cluster, and rest of the interior does mean it doesnt work.

Hi i have stereo issues as well ! umm its a old nissan and problem is that power comes to the stereo( screen lights up and so as the buttons as well) but nothing comes to the screen and the cd slot just keeps that surr surr noice all the time ? and i have checked that wires are ok and right but still it doesent work... and 2 prob is that in my stereo theres is only 2 wire slots and that leaves my speaker wires out... so if it works then theres is no power to the speakers....

>>4617605 i think i understand what youre saying... your speakers dont need a "power" source like the stereo does.. there should be a pair of wires for each speaker coming from the back of the head unit. as for the cd player making noise, does it keep doing it if you change to radio mode? often they'll keep making that noise if they think there's a CD half stuck in there. try feeding it a CD and see what it does

>>4617612 oh thanks umm yes my english IS bad and yeah....
i meant that theres no place where i put my speaker wires in head unit. And when i put all wires in head unit then it just like i say it surr´s and i cant turn it off or anything... short circuit or what ? the fuse is ok in headunit. Is that possible that the wires are after all mixed up and just wrong ?
Anonymous
>>4617618 sounds like youre shorting it out when you plug all the wires in... how many wires are there from the back of the head unit? should be 1 constant power, 1 ground, 1 switchable ground, 8 speaker wires. maybe some others
