Update on it by the way.

I got the rear wheel unlocked. Dont know what the fuck was wrong but I rocked it forward back & forth for about 30 minutes out of frustration (and honestly in attempt to move it) and It started rolling again.

well I dunno, newer CB600F? FZ6? something basic like that with some different plastics all ovre it.
Its just the brake resovoir and the rear indicator and nubmer plate holder look like my CB900. Exhaust is underslung though which is why I suggested CB600f.

I paid 800 dollars for my bike.

Yah the flip down sun glasses are the best. And It doesn't do much at speed. Got up to 95 mph (AS FAST AS MY DAMN SHADOW GOES) with 35 mph gusts out and it was the bike not my helmet bobbing around nor was it really loud

Cycle gear probably has some good deals on them too.

However if you're just going to test bikes a half helmet would probably be the way to go.

Fairings help alot with wind. If they weren't beneficial they wouldn't have them on the MGP and WSBK bikes.

I also don't really like the modern sports bike looks. The in between 80s blocky and 00s curvy looks of the 90s are the best, like the old CBR 250.

I mad that they turned the CBR250 into a piece of shit styling wise. It doesn't even look like a CBR, why not just call it the VFR250, since it rips the styling of the current VFR1200

They help to be more aerodynamic for the bike, and those small front fairing/wind shields only work when you're totally tucked in. They also have to wear race grade helmets that are also aerodynamic.

Fairings are rather unnecessary for every day riding. They do make the bike look cleaner though.

im not saying fairings are bad overall. i just dont like the aesthetics of todays bikes. the fairings are enormous and way too round for my taste. also, i hate the little posts that stick out in the back holding the license plate and turn signals. why not just make the tail of the bike longer?

I agree it's taking some getting use to the girth, but it's a couch compared to the 748 I owned before it. Got it for a song, going through and getting it back up to speed from the previous owner who was more in fashion then function. New sportmax q2's, oil change, brake flush, new pads, Adjusting the ride height back up and dialing in the suspension tomorrow afternoon. Should be a great bike after a little tlc. I also just replaced the ratty white heat wrap with some nice new black wrap that makes the exhaust nicer looking.

my throttle is more agressive, it gives the impression of more torque. it was hard to get used to at first, but i learned uber throttle control.
basically, its actually comfy on the highway, great commuter bike. has 6 speed and totally can cruise until the tanks dry (250 ish miles) and hop off and not be tired or sore at all.

basically though compared to other bikes, the difference is the very very strong ABS brakes.

Well i feel like i have to contribute.
This is my 2002 R6 i picked up last friday for $2700
18k miles. Replaced the blue windshield with a smoked one. A 45 year old owned it before me. Said it was dropped once by his neighbor, only a crack on the right fairing. But it runs great.

And this is inside (shitty phone camera) but behind it is my 2003 H-D softail and my brothers 2011 dyna ultra glide. Im still getting used to riding the R6 its way different and i find my self alot more hesitant to lean it into a turn. But im still learning.

Bought the S1K at a local dealer after deciding that I wanted one the day before. After everything, came out to $23k. I'd wait for some new models that will be released in the future. I have a 640 and 525 for adventure purposes, depending on the type of riding I will be doing. Long trips over not difficult trails would be great for a 990 or something. For a race bike, the 350XC will be fantastic once its out. i currently have 2smokes for trail bikes, a 200 and a 250. works well.

Just got back from the test ride session.

Didn't get a chance to ride a ZX-6R, but got to ride a ZX-10R. OMG SO MUCH WANT! It exceeded all my expectations. First off, its surprisingly comfortable and easy to ride. Riding position was perfect for 6ft me. The seat is a bit hard but other than that it was not really uncomfortable at all. There's a lot of room to move around as well. Comparitively, the 6R felt way more cramped when I sat on it.

Power delivery is smooth and linear as fuck, but the bike still feels incredibly powerful. You'll be cruising at 75 down the freeway in second gear, and your right in the middle of the rev range! Brakes and suspension felt awesome. The ride was surprisingly nice over bumps, though it might have been set up a little soft.

Overall, the bike was way friendlier than I expected, but it was still thrilling and amazing to ride. It also looks fucking bad ass in person, though they need more color options. Consider me fucking sold. I still want to give the 6R a try, but the 10R would definitely make a better bike for both on and off the track.

Also rode a Vulcan 1700 Nomad for shits and giggles. Was not impressed. It wasn't all that torque-y for having such a massive motor, and it wasn't particularly comfortable either.

I've done A LOT of demos on nearly anything you can think of and I have something to tell you...

Nearly anything is comfortable for 20 to 50 miles, especially on a bike you've never rode before. They want you to demo the bikes because the excitement clouds your judgment.

With that in mind I like the Zx10r. It's a nice bike but it isn't exactly better(or worse) than any of the other Japanese offerings.

I'd buy a 600 if I was in the market for a sportbike. I don't find riding bikes with a 1000cc I4 engine as involving and entertaining. The speed and acceleration are amazing, but if you ask me there is so much more to riding.

What good is a bike you don't have to take out of first gear =/

Do some more demos, a lot more. Then ride the Kawi again and see how your memory compares.

Yeah, good point, but compared to some of the sportbikes I've ridden before, the 10R feels nice. Some bikes are uncomfortable the moment to get on them. I guess it'd be more accurate to say that it had nice ergos, at least for me.

Met up at a big parking lot, then they took us in groups of about 10 through some residential streets and boulevards, on to the freeway, off again, and back through some streets back to the parking lot. Nothing intense at all. There was a lot of new riders there, some that had only just taken their MSF.

by downshift does that mean with or without revmatching?

with revmatching seems complicated because it looks hard to handbrake+blip throttle with same hand

Some dealers will just send you out on a demo bike. Some escorted, some not.

Harley shops are obligated to let you ride anything you might want to buy.

A lot of my demos have been done at a bike rally. These are normally escorted rides. Depending on the location and company leading the rides the loop can either be AWESOME(BMW) or totally lame(Honda).

Did they get those things rolling on the highway? I've been on a lot of Kawi demos and a few of the guys aren't afraid to open 'er up. (the shorter of the two black guys is one of them)

I try to either get right behind the leader or at the back with the trail rider. When you're in the back sometimes you need to play catch up if you don't make a stop light ;)

2 weeks ago I took MSF and passed it easily

although it was MSF and all and i've never rode past parking lot speeds.

I think i'll be fine, it's just what to do when coming to a stop that somewhat confuses me.

You have no idea how many Harleys parked under overpasses that I've rode past while it was raining.

Let's not forget that I've NEVER had a Harley pass me in the 8 seasons I've been riding. Keep in mind I only ride 5mph over the speed limit and I spend most of my time on a 400cc dirtbike that has 17" rims.

Yah, most of those bikes belonged to the Hells Angels Chapter. The local Motorcycle Club was running a benefit for my friends father (who's going through kidney/liver transplant and can't afford immunosuprescents) and it was in the form of a Poker Run.

10 dollars a head/bike and free food at the end and good times.

It was pretty fun. Wish it was more than just me and my father in-law riding but everyone else had either kids or busy that day.

durhur 250s are also easy as shit to work on and fix, especially the body work. And I worked on my bike in my apartment's lot for years before I moved into a place with a garage.

Also to people want the DRZ400SM, you better find one soon before most people realises that it's been discountined and raise their prices on the more recent years that have the upgraded bars and shit.

It actually ceased production since 2009 due to emissions in either Europe or japan, I forgot. The ones still being sold in America are leftovers.

They haven't officially announced it yet, but Suzuki America actually removed it from their line up since 2010. The main model page still shows it since that page covers every model from 2007 I think.
