Now as far as making power, DONT run a flat tappet cam if this is your first time running an old school engine. You have to add a lot of additives usually and if you forget, well then its time to rebuild the engine. So Id run a retro-fit Hydr. Roller cam (buy the kit at Comp Cams, Crane Cams, Voodoo etc) talk to the guys at the websites I gave you about cam selection. Bump the compression up to about 10:1 (new pistons) port and polish the heads and larger valves, put a edelbrock intake, a good Holley double pumper 750cfm, either a pair of headers or get the old exhaust manifolds and have them ported. With that you should have in the good 450hp range.
