If I drive 20 miles at 60 mph I'll get there in 20 minutes.
My speeding doesn't endanger anyone in the slightest and saving those 5 minutes is worth it to me, plus driving faster is more enjoyable.
If I'm speeding on a congested road, the danger comes not from the actual speed of my car, but from weaving in and out of traffic and the risk of sudden stops. This is a problem with dangerous driving, not with speed.
Meanwhile, an inattentive or reckless driver will be dangerous to himself and others around him at just about any speed.
If I were going 120, that's a different matter since not all cars can safely drive at 120mph. But nearly every car can cruise at 80-90mph without issue.
If you stick to the speed limit because you honestly don't want to drive any faster, fine by me. But don't try to pretend that when I'm driving at midnight, on an empty road, I'm endangering anybody at all.
