So, I got a flat tire today. The spare tire's on right now.

Apart from an alignment, that else does the car need? To replace the spare tire, can I only buy 2 new tires, or does it have to be 4?

It shouldn't need an alignment. And unless you did some crazy shit, you shouldn't need to replace your spare either.

And if I recall correctly you can buy however many tires you damn well please. So you could just get one. Or two, if you want to replace both on that axle.

Never change

Change the 2 rear tires for optimal traction if you only want to change two. An alignment check is suggested, but you'll quickly notice it if your car's steering is off.

No alignment needed unless you have a really weak suspension that was somehow bent by the flat. I've had several flat tires, never needed alignment afterward.

You're going to need 2 new tires, alignment and dyno tune. This is because the computers in the cars over-compensate when you put the donut on, throwing off the O2 sensor and affecting performance.

bc your newb status when it comes to tires is forgiven if you have a vagina

setting aside the mildly amusing trolls, you don't need an alignment, you only need to replace that 1 tire. You might even be able to get it patched, depending on where it punctured. what you "might" want to do, is have your tires rotated, if they are wearing unevenly.
