I like the look of a "stock" hoodscoop on a 2g Eclipse/Talon. What's your opinion? leave it stock (yellow) or hoodscooped (red)?

well, the intake lays under the bump so I assume it would be funcional.

FYI: the turbo eclipses have this bump for the timing belt cover. They just used the same hood on the n/a car with a totally different engine.

Ahhh I forgot the main reason for using this mod. I got some serious engine temperature so I could kill two birds with one stone. More (cooler) air for the engine is an addition.

I don't have a clue where to start. I changed every single part of the cooling system outside the engine, and the problem is still there. radiator, sensors, thermostat, coolant cap...

atm I've a header without heatwrap installed, but that can't be the problem. Others run the same setup and they don't have this problem.

btw I starting to go turbo so cooler air wouldn't be that bad, even when you got an IC.

Uhm, I don't know if you know, but there's a difference between water/coolant temperature and intake/exhaust temperatures. I'd worry about fixing the overheating first. You might've blown a headgasket.

I know that. But what if there's too much warm air in the engine bay cause the cooling system isn't efficient enough?

If i have a blown head gasket I'd have a loss of coolant or oily coolant afaik

The trouble is there isn't any trouble. The car runs perfect and smooth and you can feel that there isn't any problem. Maybe my stock coolant gauge just sucks.

Then it could be the water pump or radiator fans. Hot air will not make a properly functioning stock engine overheat, worst that'll happen is that it'll be slower.

I have a waterpump with metal impeller, so the impeller can't be broken. It's also powered by the timing belt, so there shouldn't be a problem. or do I have an error in reasoning?

The fans are controlled by the temperature sensor. Maybe this sensor is broken, but I exchanged it already (with a quality non-cheapass part).

Tomorrow I flush the entire cooling system, maybe that will help...

Sure, one of them starts spinning when the engine gets warm/hot. the other one is for the A/C. When I activate the a/c the engine temperature goes down a bit (both fans are spinning), but it's still "overheating". the gauge goes up to 3/5 - 3/4. Anyway, when I drive more than 30mph the fans are useless cause the airstream is bigger and the engine is still too hot.

Sry for my crappy english, it's not my mother tongue.

OP - basic tyco and toy store RC cars usually came in 2 mhz frequencies, so they could be used together at the same time - they were usually 27 mhz and 49 mhz, and they;d be identical except for color (and sometimes the frequency was the racing number on the car as well). red and yellow were a common pair. heres a pic to sorta illustrate, but these are slot car replicas of RC cars....going further down the rabbit hole.
