Ok /p/

So basically I'v hit the lowest of the low and I plan on shooting some gigs, since I'v moved back home I'v got no friends and nothing to take pictures of (small town) but a friend of my mums son is in a band that's getting quite popular as well as another band with a friend from primary school who I might contact.

I basically thought I'd never shoot gigs since it was the realm of hipsters with lolgas and rebels owner with 50 1.8s but I'm desperate so I'm going to give it a go..

I'v got a D700 a 24-70 and a 50 1.4 but that's all.. Shooting in bars at night I'm assuming the 24-70 2.8 aperture might not be enough? Any tips on equipment? (besides a 24 1.4) Should I invest in a speedlight? I prefer to shoot available light tho.. But maybe it won't always be an option.
