Whats keeping you from shooting more? Maybe you have a valid reason for right this moment, but what is keeping you from shooting as much as you should if you really wanted to improve?

I myself seem to be great at making excuses to myself. Like "I hate where I live" and "I dont have a model" These are lame and Im trying to get past them, but it seems to be more of a feeling that stops me. Is it laziness? Fear of something?

What's your excuse?

I don't have friends to go shooting with. It's kinda boring after a while of doing it alone. I can spend maybe 2 hours alone before it starts to feel akward. I'm the lonely loser with a camera.

There arent any where I live at either, but im fortunate enough to have a girlfriend that puts up with but photobullshit.

I live in vancouver, I'm like the only non asian with a camera. I fucking hate this town. Yeah there are photo clubs but the people in them are not people I want to be friends with.

At least for my work that is relavent right now, it requires that I go out at night with fair weather and a moon, and my exposures are usually at least 30min long. Kinda hard to take lots of photos that way.

Seriously, I am considering moving out to Vancouver. I do like the entire area. I live in Calgary, it was still snowing here two days ago, as it was for the last 8 months. That is a serious motivation killer.

also, it kind of looks like I kind of misread your post.

If the Forever Alones are getting you down, just kick your imagination up a notch or two. Pretend you're playing half life 2 or something (not hard to do in some vancouver neighborhoods). Or, you know, actually get to know the people in the photoclubs instead of immediately judging them.

I work 50+ hours a week Monday to Friday in a facility that doesn't have windows where photography is prohibited and I'm usually too tired or have other shit to do in the evenings.

I still shoot at the weekend though, or at least I carry a camera with me most of the time.
