Hey /p/,

I've lurked here on and off for a bit of time now. Most of it is to appreciate the photos ... I don't really have a lot of experience with where most of the discussion ends up. However, I'd like to change that. I'd like to invest in a half-way decent camera and lens to start taking photos on my own, but I'm not really sure where to start. I'd like to think that I've been trying to develop as much of an eye as possible with my current camera (just a Casio point and shoot), but I'd really like to get some equipment to further this.

I've got some disposable income, although I don't think I'm willing to dump a ton of money on something I probably can't use to the fullest yet.

Where should I be looking? What should I be looking for?
