I'm looking for a walkaround daylight street lens wider than my nifty fifty and I've come up with this

Canon 20-35 mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

What I want you to tell me is will this lens be worth my coin?

I don't want to get it if my kit 18-55 will piss all over it at those focal lengths.

If you have the IS version of 18-55, yes, it will.

This. Also, your 18-55 has a much more useful range and image stabilization. The 20-35 is designed to be a budget ultrawide for full frame, not a normal. It's a decent budget ultrawide, but it's easier to design a normal zoom well.
