The tripod indicates that you have the time to mess about and setup your shots, the 50 1.2 seems rather pointless for that, since when it's on a tripod you might as well shoot a smaller aperture, if you feel you need the extra speed the 1.2 gives you, you are probably in conditions that are apt to change rapidly, meaning you have to be mobile hence rendering the application of a tripod pointless and in worst case rendering your ability to get an interesting shot void.
Very often, the good shots are shots that can't be repeated again and again and again.
Very often shots that are shot on tripod can be just that, because they are planned.
Were told in skewl that "if you can get it again it ain't good"
Whatever. Tripods may do ya fine, if ya feel like it.
