GF2 shoots Interlaced?

From the Amazon GF2 page, "The Lumix GF2 can record 1920 x 1080 videos at 60i or smooth HD 1280 x 720 movies at 60p in AVCHD."

Why would Panasonic put interlaced video, not progressive, on the GF2?

I believe GF2, like other Panasonic cameras capable of FullHD, records 30 progressive 1920x1080 frames per second, then splits them into even/odd lines and stores as 1080i60. There is some reasoning behind that, but I forgot.

Also, the GF2 doesn't shoot in 60i, it writes in 60i. Are you the same guy that started the last thread about it? You got all the info you needed.
