Hi /p/, newb here with some questions. I've been reading over Ken Rockwell's website and was enjoying most of it until I discovered the part where he (quite rightly) talks about how the camera is so much better at setting exposures than humans.

So if he takes all his pictures leaving everything to the camera aside the exposure compensation, why is it so necessary for people to know how to control exposure using ISO, shutter speed and aperture size? His writing makes it seem that's something that only happened in the 1950s.

My guess would be because for some shots you want to have complete control over how the picture is going to look, but I'm also curious as to what you guys think.

Shoul I let the camera do all the work for me, or is there some scenarios in which knowing about exposure control would be beneficial?
