ah how about contrasting? i dont mean the after effects or photoshopping, i mean the picture itself. like, you have this realy old farm equipment, and its rusty and its broken, how about having a farmer driving with his brand new state of the art tractor in the background? or just somebody walking through the fields or watching that old metal thingi and drinking from a cola-tin? or smoking and holding a perfektly clean and shining box of cigarettes? just make sure that the object to contrast with (the new one) is either not the focus, is not too sharp and is not in the foreground, it needs to be casual, looking real, and not placed or arranged.
