>>298645Yeah the rider was already cropped down. The problem was there was not anough fill light coming from the side due to the light from the sun off my left shoulder. The only way I would have got enough light would have been to use a fill flash or reflector. By upping the exposure post processing all I was doing was illuminating noise and no real detail. I tried.
The tyre swing shots I liked but yeah you are right. I should have used a lower stop and tried to get a shorter DoF.
My skills (Or lack thereof) need work. I guess sometimes the subject matter is just uninteresting and you just have to move on and only take photos you think will work then try to think about how to compose them so they are better than just a plain shot. Getting in closer. Different angles. Rule of thirds etc. These things I am aware of but I always tend to screw up when I actually practice these things. I have spent FAR too much time indoors photographing objects (Figurines and dolls. That kind of crap). Going outside and trying to get good shots is a totally different ballgame. I love to photograph people though. I just have trouble getting in close for the shots due to fear of being berated by the people.
I already have had a couple of bad instances. Granted those were in parks though where people tend to think you are a pervert (Well I am but that's besides the point lol).
Next job. Go into central London and work the streets.
