>>221950Well, first off, are you having problems with folding the pentagon, or in turning it into a star at the end? It takes a few tries before you start getting good at them. The first few probably won't turn out so well. I'd suggest using the blank template file in this thread if you don't want to take a piece of blank printer paper and measure the 1/2 inch width for each strip. That way, you're not using a lot of printer ink for your first lucky star trials.

I've found that when the paper weakens from excess folding, it becomes more and more difficult to push in the sides to make the star. The pentagon has to be around a certain strength in order to puff out properly as well. This is figured out through trial and error. If the paper is too sturdy, it will resist any attempt to bend from your fingers. If it's too flimsy, it will crush too easily. Sometimes the paper is too thick or thin to use. Other times the strip just needs to be longer or shorter to make a good star.
