>>247009That's what is going to be the leg. Don't worry if you do not understand this right now. When the design is finished, I will export this to a decent CAD program and add proper fold lines. Also the order in which to build this is pretty important, so I will have to type up some detailed instructions. Since english isn't my first language and I want to do this properly, anyone up to some proofreading?
>>246624Sorry to dissapoint you, but I don't think this model will scale this well, even when provided as vectors. There are many design elements like the paper hinges which wouldn't work properly above cat sized. On the other hand, if you are going to use more sturdy cardboard or even thin plywood you could do without many of the reinforcing elements that are necessary for a paper model. I am going to finish this model first, after that and if you are really dedicated do this, I can help you with the plans.
STATUS UPDATE
In the picture you can see the three development stages the leg already went through and the first stage of a hub design. (Can someone spot the blaringly obvious error? Sometimes I am amazed at my own stupidity.) There also happens to be cake.
The leg builds fine and now has the structural integrity the second iteration was lacking, but the range of movement still needs to be improved. Right now there is too much resistance when moving across the 100° position, which kills the drive wheel hinges after a few revolutions. After I have fixed that, the hub is next on the list.
