Another part of the problem is that standardized test companies (and hell, schools) want students using a calculator that isn't all that powerful. College Board imposes fairly arbitrary standards like "no QWERTY keyboard" and shit because they really hate the idea of students having access to a full-blown computer, even though that's kind of inevitable with the path that graphing calculators have taken. So Texas Instruments (and HP and Casio, when those are allowed) is practically being encouraged to sell a crippled product.
