A's official announce plans to build a new stadium in Fremont, California. The stadium will be named Cisco Field and be filled with high tech gagets up the wazoo.

My favorite part was the huge fucking screen behind the scoreboard. One of the plans is to allow people to watch away games on the it outside the stadium, or on sell outs.

Simply put, it looks awesome.

Also, batter's eye video screen is a blatant rip-off of San Diego's video screen + park area? Bricks imported from St. Louis? Bleacher seating on top of buildings taken from Chicago? Next thing you know, they'll be stealing those huge walls from Boston, Houston, and Florida.

How does bricks = St. Louis? Every stadium built since 1992 has incorporated a brick facade. But I agree with you, the roof bleachers are kind of lame. It's like they're trying to create the effect that they shoehorned the field in between pre-existing buildings, when this complex will be the only thing taller than three stories for about a mile in any direction.

And yes, wind should be blowing towards the outfield. Home plate will face inland from the bay, so unless the stands create some crazy turbulence (think Candlestick) it shouldn't be a problem.

Oh wait, I remember. THEIR NAMES ARE LAME AS FUCK.

I'm well aware that the money from companies is what funds new stadiums, and they're well within their right to name the places after themselves, but 98% of the time they're horrible names.

Cisco Field? Ugh. Safeco Field? Double Ugh. Tropicana Dome? Fucking shoot me already.

I'd take Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden, etc anyday over the (Generic Business Name)Stadium/Park/Field anyday.
