>Africentric follows a year-round schedule which keeps learning fresh and allows teachers to intervene during regularly scheduled breaks to ensure students are maintaining academic progress. Students learn through African-centered holistic perspectives and beliefs and are required to take African-American studies courses to graduate. Students can take college-level
courses beginning in eighth grade, and can earn an associates transfer degree in arts or science from Columbus State Community College. A number of advanced computer courses are
offered. Africentric serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade, but is divided within the building into separate elementary, middle and high school programs.
