I want to work in the US after getting my BA, but wouldn't it be practically impossible to get a job? =/ mainly because of my 1)lack of experience in the field and 2) lack of residenceship/citizenship (meaning having to find a sponsor for the working visa..)

I can speak Japanese and Korean as well. But, I'm not like a coding wiz... just an average CS student. Maybe I should learn more C and Linux.

The more you know, the better. Linux is good to know, as are AS400, AIX, Solaris. Lack of experience means you'll have to start small, but that's okay, you don't want to have too much responsibility right away. Also, working for NPOs or the state pays less, but can mean better job security and a less formal environment.
I just got my Bachelor's in CS in spring 2005, got employed in Semptember of the same year(yeah it took a few months, but I didn't give up and become a janitor or something).

learn networking in addition to CS. knowing both makes for a very Valuble applicant on a resume. even if you dont get a Job as aprogrammer, you can still earn a good living as a net-admin while you look for programmer positions.

Getting a 5 year work permit should be possible if you have specialist knowledge, but permanent residence will be hard to get.

I don't understand the trope of saying
you're "computer illiterate" as
though it's some sort of virtue. It's
like when people say they're bad at
math, or bad at remembering names.
It's not some cutesy thing that
makes you charming, it's a basic
human skill that's part of existing in
the world today, and you lack it
because you haven't taken the time
or care to work on it. Not everyone
needs to torrent, or hack things, or
crack...hard drive... databases...(I'm
out of my depth) but you should be
able to do basic things that help you
exist as a human in 2013+, like type
and print Word documents.
