Comedy Central has been running stand up comedy uncensored. How can they do this without being fined by the FCC? Normally all basic cable channels are bleeped out for profanity (South Park, Howard Stern, etc).

Its not they that are particularly pandering to UltraConservatives all the time, they are just censoring what average people expect to be censored during regular hours. So like, people up at 2 am and watching Comedy Central... well... they generally know what they are in for.

WTF do you mean cable isn't subject to FCC regulation? Compare porno channels on cable to porno channels on satellite. Satellite (like direcTv spice) can show full penetration and lots of crotch shots, while cable (PPV spice) does not.

However, cable companies get their money from sponsors, and these sponsors have to uphold an image. Thus a cable company won't dare to show anything that could piss its sponsors off and cause them to pull out of the contract.

Which allows the system to 'censor' stuff without even needing the government to do it. Don't you just love the 'free' market?
