OK, did one for the jungle, now gonna do one for the frozen wastes.
It is said that there are lights in the sky besides the stars and Father Sun. This is true. But what they are has long been up for debate. Shamans and spirit-men say that it is a path in the heavens to the Pool of Birth, where all things came from. It is said that this pool is the source of everything, even godhood, and that anyone who drinks from it will become as powerful as Father Sun.
Of course, the lights lead north, deeper into the frozen waste, where no man can survive. This is because the gods do not want the unworthy among them. So they placed the cold between them and us so that only the brave may become gods.
If one does find the pool at the end of the world, their trek is not over yet. There is a guardian that lives in the waters of the pool, and will defend it from all comers.
The guardian is a giant corpse-like man, clad in rotten armor and rusty metal, who arises from the pool to slay any who try to slake their thirst. He was the first hero to make it to the pool, but in his pride he claimed he would drink the pool dry, so as to become the strongest of all the gods. The gods did not approve of this braggart, so they cursed him to forever live in the pool and prevent anyone from drinking of it.
His flesh is blue and bloated, and his eyes are black and empty. He wields an axe in one hand, and a spear in the other, and has a net as well. His armor is tattered and rusted, and the leather is rotten, as are his clothes. He stands almost 15 feet tall, and is hunched over, his expression feral and cruel.
