This is how I tell if a medieval fantasy RPG is terrible.
If it uses any of the following terms: "full plate," "chainmail," "flail."
OR
If it uses the term "longsword" when it means "arming sword."
Then it is an awful medieval fantasy RPG. Every edition of D&D fails this test so badly by meeting all of the criteria above. If the writers don't bother doing their research on proper terminology for weapons and armor, how can they be expected to write a good setting or even a good game if they're that lazy and ignorant?
